De-wipering and De-badging

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

Basically im looking to de-wiper and de-badge my vtr
But obviously living in sunny south wales (Sarcasm) im abit worried about the constant rain, Ive driven a car before that was de-wipered and it wasnt that bad but im looking to get some feed back off the guys who have already done it, and what they think. Thanks

On the de-badging front, My brother has de-badged a car before and just used boiling water, no biggie. The only thing is im abit worried about a possible adverse reaction between the cold metal and boiling hot water. Would it be best to wait until summer when the metal will obviously be alot hotter??

Any help would be greatly apprechiated

On mine i just gently heated the badges with a hair dryer. After around 5 mins they just fell off in my hand pretty much . As for the De-wiper you will get used to it. Just turn on the heated screen and you'll still see most things behind you. The only pain is when dirt/dust builds up and you can't just wash it off. But imo both are worth doing, de-badge and de-wiper. Just be very careful when de-wipering as i've seen a lot of cracked screens on here due to carelessness or they don't really know the correct 'de-wiper' procedure.

you can easily remove the basged off a saxo mate but you will be left with little holes in your boot.

yea its quite expensive to de-badge because if you are doing it properly then you need you boot resprayed, and ive de-wipered and i get along fine with it

You get a certain product that you can spray on your back window when de-wipering that makes like rain for example just bounce off it so you dont have any problems

Little holes?? Oh great that sounds good lol

How big and bad do they look? As i dont really have the money to have it respreayed etc lol

Only small holes, can't be seen from a distance

yea there are 3 little holes behind the citroen badge and 2 behind the saxo badge they are small however it is noticeable and looks like youve done a half job some people have just used touch up paint and made it look good but thats very hard to do

just t-cut your badges mate - they will look much better than leaving holes on your boot! And the de-wipering is straight forward, should be a guide on here somewhere, but its easily done

the little holes will look stupid mate, if your gonna de-badge get it done properly, probably cost at least 100 to do though, maybe you could try taking them off and spraying them the same colour as the car, that can look pretty good.

    looks good on mine

The holes are barely noticeable. But, if you have got the money to splash then yes get it done properly

Fair play mate that does look pretty awesome! Is there a guide on here for spraying em, or isit just a case of take em off, spray paint em black, stick em back on? lol

yea its simple as taking them off spraying them and re sticking them with some think double sided tape, a lot of people buy new ones from citroen so you can just rip the old ones off lol
  15. #15
T-cutting is even more simpler, don't even need to take your badges off if you have a steady hand, if you want them black that is
  16. #16
yeah just rub the badges with a bit of T-cut and they will go blac. saves you taking them off!

so what people are saying if you have de-wiper it not a bad thing then a no it looks good but it would do me heading when its raining lol

Only problem i'm having right now with mines being de-wipered is my car seems to be steemed up alot right now and i cant see out the back window, i'm sure ill find how to sort that tho

de-wipered mine and tinted 95%, at night i cant see a thing out the back anyway, so doesnt matter if its raining, and cant see a great deal in the day... i dont use my rear window... although i still check the mirror as part of my manoeuvres

like everyone says mate t-cut the badges if ya want them black, done mine with an electric polisher, took about a minute to do both badges lol and i de wipered my old sax, its look great and the rain didnt really bother me, i always kept it well clean tho so maybe the rain kinda fell off the back window, you can always try it n if ya dnt like it just put it back on, its sooo easy to do
