As a guess..

I wouldn't see a gain with a cold air feed to my orginal airbox along with a good panel filter for example k&n or greenstuff is it (or are they brake pads).

Can anyone shed some light on this

    Thanks

Heya mate couldnt quite understand what you was saying but ill try to shed some light on the subject for you, basically you will see better performance with standard airbox + an aftermarket panel filter over an open(cone) aftermarket filter, all the open filters are really for is noise. Saying that a decent aftermarket inclosed filter like a raceland or BMC will deffinantly improve acceleration and free up the rev's.

    ^ Exactly what i've done.

Wouldn't say there are any noticeable gains(maybe slightly)

A K&N panel filter will last ALOT longer than a standard panel filter and at only £23, worth an investment, im very happy with mine.

I've also put a K&N cold air feed pipe(£10ish) running from original position to the standard airbox to replace the plastic original parts.

At £33 for the K&N filter and cold feed pipe, its about the same price as a cheap useless cone filter.. i know which option i'd rather. Hope this helps.

This is what i've got, ran it from original position(by radiator) to the airbox and used a couple of jubilee clips to secure it on.

you've done the same thing I have only you've got posh K&N stuff so would it make a difference if I added a K&N panel filter?

Oh and have you tried taking the cold air feed off so there is a a hole, I did it for the crack of it sounds really loud but obv your sucking in hot air.

The K&N panel filter will be less restricted than the original filter so in theory it should give you a slight difference with the less restricted air flow, but like i said these gains aren't really that noticeable.

I bought one because i needed a new air filter and thought it would be a better investment in the long run, seen as these K&N filters are apparently suppose to last 10 times longer than original ones.
