brakes

   hello guys.
   
   recently went to get the brakes done. i used a mechanic that my mom always goes to and was wondering how much should/would replacing the brake disks and brake pads at the front and changing the rear drums to brake disks at the back would come to ? normal calipers and disks nothing special lol... i wanna know if i paid a good price.

   The fronts are fuck all, to buy new discs and pads is about £40.
   
   The rear is another matter...

   oh ryt... do you know much of the price to the rears ? basically i paid 70 pound all together but only because my mom is a valued customer or summot. so i kinda already think i got an okay deal. jsut wondered how much of an okay deal lol

   He changed your front discs and pads, then swapped out your drum beam for a disc one? For £70?

   put it this way lol there was drums now theres disks, to be honest it was my mom that spoke to him, i just paid it.

   yeye the rears were drums.. i though most of them were. correct me if im wrong like.

   What reg is yours? Mine's a Y and it has disks. I thought all VTR's had disks.

    All vtr's have discs. are you sure it's not a badged up furio?

    There is a 1.4 VTR that has drums.
    
    And before anyway says fuck all. It is NOT a furio. But they are mega rare!
    
    
    You sure you used to have drums on the back? and he didn't just give you mates rates on a full disk and pad change?

    The 1.4 VTR's were all imports usually from Ireland.

    never herd of a 1.4 VTR, heard of the 1.4 VTS though - foreign equivalent of the furio me thinks

    Even at trade prices, that's at least £40 in parts for just a front & rear pad/disc change.
    
    Plus labour and the fact that if you DID have drum he'd need a whole new rear axle and yeah, you've either had discs all along or your mother is very persuasive.

    your all starting to make me doubt it did have drums at the rear now lol... it ses vtr on the logbook so that ses to me vtr lol and its definatley a 1.6... oh well my car stops thats for sure :L

    my mum gets me cheap labour i bring parts im not aloud to do suspension and brakes eg the stuff that will kill me if i fuck it up and she gets me good labour but she does drop round cakes from bake sales and anewspaper i dont care cheap labour saves me pennies
