Gearbox swap?

   The original gbox on my westie is knackered and im looking for a replacement, not fussed about ratios e.t.c just need a quick fix but wondered whether a VTR gearbox would fit straight in? I know 1.1 & xsi gearboxes are a better option but im struggling to find one.
   
   Any help much appreciated.

   Well I just changed my vtr box for a 1.1 and it went straight in so should be the same the other way round as the box is no bigger in size..
   
   All i had to do was swap over a couple of the bits from the vtr box to the 1.1 box.. if you put them side by side and do the same it should fit easy as pie!!
   
   Plenty of old 1.1 boxes kickin around scrappies mate, I have just knicked the last of my dads but ring round will be some about pal

   Any saxo gearbox will fit your car. IIRC im pretty sure all 106 gearbox's fit aswell? So ye, a vtr gearbox will fit but bare in mind this box has the longest ratios in the range. Id suggest anything other than the vtr.
