Poorly Sax - Help Please :(

    Someone help lol
I've had my VTR 2 weeks tomorrow and it flew through it's MOT 2 weeks today, theres absolutely nothing on the test sheet to say theres anything wrong with it but...
Over the past week or so, when I'm driving especially in 5th gear it makes a horrible whining noise, sounds a bit like a helicopter lol!
I don't know if you can hear it from the outside but from the inside as a driver or passenger it makes my exhaust sound crappy!
It's almost as if my exhaust is blowing but it's worse than that.
My mate claims it could be the gearbox about to bost but surely it wouldn't have flew through it's MOT if this is the case?
It is quite hard to get it in to 2nd gear and also first, but every other one is okay..
And it only whines when I accelerate not when I put my clutch down or anything else..

Any ideas what it might be?
    Thanks xxx

sounds like ya gear box mate! i had this in my 5th gear and after a few more 100 miles it started to jump outta gear!! then it does it more and more often untill its jumping outta every gear or getting jammed in other gears! i let mine go to far as i didnt know what was wrong at first and didnt have cash to get new gear box, then went out and got a 1.1 gearbox from the scrappy and she runs like a dream again =)

so if it jumps outta gear your gunna need to look into a new gearbox mate

As the noise happens in other gears as well as 5th i would be looking at wheel bearing. Does it get louder around a corner? If so likely wheel bearing needed.

Gearbox will whine as well when they get older but it tends to happen very gradually not just over a few days like a wheel bearing noise.

Could be clutch release bearing, if it whines under heavy load and partial load but goes if you dip the clutch. Added to difficult gear selection, to really tell would need to hear it. Gearbox has nothing to do with MOT though a worn wheel bearing should be picked up in the test.
