Whining noise diagnosis?

   When i drive the car underload after 2500 rpm it makes a whining noise in all gears. However, when i press the clutch to change up gears the noise stops and its complete normal again but once the gear is engaged and running - the whining starts again.
   
   Also, when im in neutral and revving there is no whining or strange noises.
   
   Whats the chances its my gearbox?

   so its not the clutch release bearing?

   mine does the same but only in first and 2nd...
   
   so new gearbox??

   Looks like it might be. Already got a VTS box sorted for my VTR

   my Saxo VTR makes a whining noise from the clutch whenever i start it up, and it seems to carry on untill the cars warmed up. if i depress the clutch though, the noise stops.... :-S any idea what this could be? and does this happen to yours?
