Converting to old style coil pack?

  1. #1
Im in the process of changing the coilpack setup on my vtr(single plug loom). ive got a coilpack, leads and ive taken a coil pack loom, its a four pin loom with two think wires one red and one yellow, and one smaller wire, has one wire with the resistor. Anyone know what wires i need to join to what to get it running. thanks

Me and a guy at work figured this out today, easiest job ever and it runs like a dream . Luckily the old bodged wires still had wiring numbers on them so after taking ages to find an old wiring diagram the numbers were all in front of use just matched te numbers from the 106 loom to the saxos

Just a question, is there any actual benefit from doing that?

Not having a dig just generally wondering why you would want to do it, there must be a benefit?

My main reason to do it was my coilpack wiring has been gashed up by a previous owner and the main body of the pack was arcing out on the head. Apparently the gains are a better spark, the coilpack doesnt get as hot(less likely to fail) and they are cheaper to replace. The gains ive noticed are it idles a bit nicer. Plus my mate at work had three under his bench

Yeee, it dosent get as hot as it int directly over the engine so less likley to fault. If there is faults then its easier to solve and diognose.
