im looking to get a OMP rally steering wheel, but will taking the old one off result in the air bag light coming on?

air bag light will start flashing then you will need to have it plugged in to remove it.

could tape over the bulb on the dash or simply join the plug from the loom with a bit of wire to fool the ecu into thinking the circuit is complete

my airbag light was already on after fitting a bucket. i got used to it though it doesnt flash so its fine. taking steering wheel off hasnt changed anything

Nope, the steering wheel airbag plug.

IIRC you need a low rate resistor connected to it to stop it flashing.

The OMP steering boss comes with the correct resistor to stop the airbag light coming on. Either way, the light isn't an MOT failure.

Have a search on here and find out what resistor you need - I think it's about 3 ohms? A few pence from Maplin. Stick it across the orange connector for the airbag and the light will go out.

Remove airbag ecu or just tape over the light if it bothers you.
