What Gearbox will I need ?

  1. #1
I think my Gearbox is about to go as when i accelerate and even in driving at a constant speed then I can hear like a whizzing noise. Anyway as I have a Vts do I have to replace it with a Vts gearbox or can it be off any saxo ?

any saxo and some 106's - not sure which box from the 106 range.

You can replace it with any saxo box iirc

The ratios will differ due to the vts being a sport box with long ratios, a VTR box is a closer ratio box

You can use a 106GTi box and a 1.4xsi box. The xsi boxes are meant to be really good!

Do not put a VTR box in a VTS. The R box has the longest ratios in the range. Either get another VTS box or a 1.1 box as these ratios are quite similar. The 106 rallye box's are the shortest you can get i think; you should see good acceleration gains however your top speed will suffer. With the rallye box's ive heard that you sit at about 4000rpm+ at 70.
