Alryt guy's! Was driving back from west sussex earlier back to southampton in the vts, Was going through pompey which is start and stop between round about's. Noticed the car started hesitated whilst accelerating. Eventually the car started have a spaz attack while trying to pull off and just went into what i'd call a limp mode! Revving to 6000 rev's in first gear barely acheiving 30mph... Revving is slow, Acceleration is very slow and struggles to exceed 60mph!? I stopped the car and left it in neutrul while revving it and evan that is slow, Sounds very cloggy and idleing is evreywhere! Engine and entire exhaust jumping evreywhere as if its starved of fuel? Any idea's people? Cheer's!
Important! : Big problems *Limp Mode?!?*

#2i think in limp mode, revs will not go above 3k, but i may be wrong
-
#3It does rev past 3k, Just doesnt go anywhere! Anyone one know what would trigger the limp mode?
-
#4i haven't ever heard of a saxo going into a limp-home mode, i might well be mistaken but that is more of a modern car thing to be honest.
Have you checked your leads/plugs and the like. sounds like its missing bad
-
#5I'v changed the coil pack for another one i had, it's got a new map sensor on it already. Checked over the sensor's i can get too but cant see anything wrong to be honest. What you mean by missing??
-
#6misfiring mate, not igniting fuel properly so power isn't made like normal.. is it wasting fuel?
-
#7Try changing ht leads and spark plugs
-
#8Unplug the battery overnight,is the engine management light on?
Steve. -
#9Changed the spark plug's mate with bosch super 4's. The old spark plug's were completely black as if overfueling yes. I'll check over the HT lead's to see if anything's wrong there
-
#10Yea mate engine managment light is on
-
#11my 106 gti did this, grrrr took me ages to sort out, i changed sensors from my mates vts to try and solve it, something must have worked when i put mine back in, i also cleaned the sensors, but yeh i couldnt go over 70mph
real pain, runs rough, im sure mine kicked in at just over 5k, but i believe u have to disconnect the battery for 30 mins to reset the ecu, so everytime i changed some thing i had a go at resetting it,,
maybe different to yours but i hope u get it sorted -
#12Yup exact same symtom's ! Lmao sounds like a good old fun week ahead of us then!
-
#13i was gonna say coil pack pack then did you change it for a brand new one?
-
#14Not a brand new one, but the old one fitted to it was obviousy ****** because the car was idle'ing like a bag of shit, and not running properly. So changed the coilpack's over and spark plug's
-
#15i had mine in limp mode after i changed gearbox and clutch.
clear codes and it was okay -
#16running dodgy, overfuelling, engine management light.
Sounds like a typical lambda sensor issue mate
-
#17Oh ryt, how would i get around a lamba sensor as plans are for a decat anyways :s
-
#18I say that because im told the sensor's near the cat when i could of sworn its on the downpipe.
-
#19im 99% sure saxo's dont go into limp-home mode.
No point in guesing what it is just get it plugged in and find out what codes have came up. this will most likely tell you all you need to know. -
#20completely agree with you mate, just take the hit and know for sure instead of taking ages replacing everything lolQuote:im 99% sure saxo's dont go into limp-home mode.

the lambda sensor is located in the manifold of the exhaust, you can't miss it.
when you de-cat the car you'll have to buy a lambda sleeve depending on what exhaust you get, you can't not have the sensor the car will run shit
