Driving home last night from a friends and the Battery light came on, Power Steering went a little, then the dials went dim, then the headlights went dim, then different warning lights came on and went off (Immobiliser, Airbags, Engine Management) then she started spluttering and sounding like a missfire and then total loss of the engine. The lights and stereo were all working when I was sat waiting for a tow home, so I don't reckon its the Battery. Maybe the Alternator?? Its right below the coolant system filler and has had a lot of water spilt over it in the last couple of months because of a water leak I had.

Any ideas guys??? Need this fixed sharpish, I'm screwed without my beloved VTS!!

first thing i would do mate is pop down to your local garage or halfords and get the batt tested that will tell you abit more i.e if you need a new batt or not if the batt is fine then yh i would go with the Alternator they are not that expensive or hard to change have you had alook at the Alternator just to make sure the belt is still on there

check alternator belt if this is fine it will be a fucked alternator thats what happens as the electrics for the power steering pump come from the alternator as for the lights going dim thats cos the alternator not charging the battery and battery draining power
