4-2-1 Manifolds

  1. #1
    Heyy

    i have a mk2 vtr,

am i right in sayin the cat is in the manfifold?

if it is, how do people insure there manifolds?? can you get 4-2-1s with a cat? is there an advantage of it this?? what is best thing to do on my mk2 then?

    thanks

if its a facelift model after 01 then its in the mani, most people get a 421 decat and dont tell insureance,or just declare an aftermarket manifold,

sport cats generally are very expensive, furthermore with a decat youll need to put the standard one back on for your mot

Hmm thats fair enuf, liked the sound of a decat anyway ,, hmm might just get one then change it just before the mot, mines lookin crust as it is lol,

    whats changin it like??

    ok will do

the guide on fitting seemed good,

so all in all, its just get a decat and swap it back when you need your mot doing ??

    what manifolds r rated/slated??

any better fit ? any to stay away from?

    thanks

Supersprint - Best for performance, fitment and quality
Raceland - Cheap, good quality however due to the oil filter replacement, can be a bit of a bastard
Janspeed - Cheap alternative again however im pretty sure these manifolds are mild steel (unlike the SuperSprint and Raceland versions). This system also requires the oil filter to be moved.

Also lamba sensor has to be put into a sleve on them (i think on all of them not to sure)

which i would of thought would effect performance.

You can pick up Raceland manifolds for about £150 i think, Janspeed's are similar price. The Superpsint however is over £300. Not too sure about what you have to do with the lamba sensors with any of them though.

Theres a guide in the sticky's called 'Fitting a Raceland Manifold'. This shows exactly what you need to do to fit one of these which obviously includes relocating the oil filter.

If you want it to bolt straight on you have to pay the price im afraid, relocating the oil filter looks harder then it is pal.

i spose then the adavantage is you get a proper filter not a shitty paper one

in got a 4-2-1 on my mk2 vtr with the paper filter. it just bolted straight on and its got two lamba takeoffs so you dont have to put one in a sleve.

So you dont have to move the oil filter on the Sportex 4-2-1's?
