Recommendations for remap please?

I'm looking to have my vts remapped, can I have recommendations for where to get it done and rough prices please I'm down in east Sussex. Also is it worth doing and how will it benefit the car? Many thanks

    get cams 1st. then a re-map.

what are you using your car for exactly?
    road use or track use??

get newmans cams anyway or piper.
the more aggressive cam you get the car becomes less useful for road.

I looked into piper cams mate was thinkin jus the fast road cams rather than ultimate cam kit, I was advised to get remap first, I'm using it for road use mainly will be occasionlly used for track

who advised you to get a remap before fitting the cams ?

Getting a remap before getting cams makes no sence mate. The point of the remap is to fine tune the fuel/air mixture and get the most power out of the engine, getting it done before getting cams means that when you fit the cams all the money you just spent setting the car up will be wasted.
I'd do everything you have planned for the engine first. The remap should be the VERY last thing done to the engine IMO

A couple of people I was chatting to down the pub I was told to get remap first then get cams after cos with standard map I won't get full potential of new cams? Is that wrong then? Sorry I'm not really clued up with this stuff that why I thought I'd ask people on here cos they're saxo experts haha

Oh really haha now I feel like a bit of a nob lol

You won't get the potential of the new cams either if the car is remapped for the old cams. It needs to be done after the modification to the engine, ie the cams and that are installed.

Oh right I see that def makes sense but how come then do people get a standard engine remapped? Now that doesn't make sense to me?

What year is the car. If its a newer model i dont think many places can remap it, in fact i think only 1 place can in the country and thats chip wizards.
  11. #11
    stand alone or vts ecu?

if your wanting you ecu remapped, chipwizards is the only place id be looking at, worth the travel
  12. #12
Oh really? I thought any remap place wud do it it's not standard it's had full stainless custom exhaust decatted with 4-2-1 manifold potted and polished has blasted head induction kit head rebuild. Would I benefit from remap?
  13. #13
If you are going to fit cams then yes you would benefit, i wouldnt bother getting a remap for just exhaust mani n a port n polished head tbh

    As above mate.

Not all Remapping places will do the Saxo ECUs. The Mk1 Single plug ECUs are easier to map, although the Mk2 Triple Plug ECUs are harder to get into to alter the maps or somthing, and the only place that can remap a triple plug ECU is ChipWiazrds.

You Remap AFTER mods not before.

oh really ok then so sounds like i'd have to head there then if i wanted it done?
also so basically are you saying getting it re-mapped as is.... i wouldnt really gain anything from it unless i put fast road cams in? would i have to uprate anything if i put fast road cams in bareing in mind the engine is on 70k and the car is 10 years old??

Sorry to hijack ur thread mate

Can anyone tell me where chipwizards are? Their website is down atm
  18. #18
Youd be wasting £340 or whatever amount it costs for a remap from chipwizards for the sake of a gain just fitting a de-cat would give you.

Research your cams mate, think theres a sticky about them at the top of the page, should help you out mate
