fan relay and brake light

hi people, ive got 2 questions here and hoping some1 can give me a pointer.

what colour is the plug or wires going to the brake pedal switch on an early vts?

also my fan is not working as theres no relay and not sure of correct 1/colour i need? there is a thick yellow wire coming from relay side on the centre of
the plug and wondering what this does or where it should go, was thinking
    an earth?

    any help appreciated

The wire colours that go into the brake switch are Grey (main power feed) and Red (function).
I take it you are referring to your radiator fan, as opposed to the heater blower fan. Generally speaking any Yellow wire concerned with fans are associated with an Earth. Hope that is of some help to you.

yeah was the rad fan i ment, are the grey and red wires for the brake switch
going to a brown or a black plug, or is it the same style as the handbrake switch plug? the yellow wire on the relay plug is coming from the center pin of relay, you think this is an earth then?

soz if a bit hard to understand im trying to describe best as i can.

    thanks.

The brake switch is directly above the brake pedal, it does not matter what colour the plug is, it can come in a variety of colours, the most important thing is the wiring colours (unless someone has changed the wires colours). The style of the switch is similar to that of the handbrake, except that it is fitted into the body of the car with a nut in a linear fashion and works on the same principal as a 'break to make' switch, wheras the handbrake switch fits on a sideways fashion.
Use a multi-meter to test the yellow wire to see if it is an earth or power carrying wire.

Another thought, what Number connection is the yellow wire coming from on the relay?? The number is located next to the connection on the relay.

hi i do not have the relay as such yet so not sure of the no..
i have correct pedal and handbrake switch for car so is there ment to be 2 wires running
to each switch? and you mention checking wether live or earth at either of the plugs which should there be?

    thanks

Yes, two wires to each switch. For the handbrake switch the wires are Green/Yellow for the earth and Mauve for the powe. For the brake light switch Grey for the permanent live and Red for supply to lights.
