if you know what your doing a gearbox is and easy job. My problem is usually not taking everything off lol but thats because i rush... Probly worth doin the clutch while your in that deep.

you mean changing the clutch cable?

wheels off, hubs off, driveshafts out, uncouple gearbox linkages, gearbox mount off which is under the battery, so battery out, undo transmission earth's, loosen gearbox, unbolt clutch (if you are gonna change it) bolt clutch back up, grease the clutch release bearing, line gearbox up with clutch (probably hardest bit, ensure it is lined up and don't go twatting it up if it isn't aligned) then re-fit everything and add 2L(ish) of gbox oil

    not necessary

only the ball joints needs popping out, no need to remove shafts and hubs

ha, ive done plenty at work on new cars but doing it on my drive was a different story..

Get a haynes mate and do your research, it really is quite easy, but ive done it a few times. Sometimes the intermediate bearing on the NS driveshaft is a pain in the ass but if you take your time it is relitavely simple. If you need any advice give us a shout.

Also as one of the other guys have said check your clutch isnt worn as you may as well change this whilst you have your box off.

Also on re-assembly, if you can get hold of an engine hoist hold the box from the top and wiggle it back on this is the easiest way, pain in the ass when you have to lift and jiggle it about yourself. Good luck mate.
