Can anyone help? Dodgey sensor?

    Afternoon chaps,

I know that no one can tell me why an EMlight comes on, but mine has come on a few times now and after a day or two turns itself back off. It's on at the moment but I'm pretty confident it'll turn back off soon!

Is this common? Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

You basically answered your own question, no one can tell you what it means unless it's plugged into a diagnostics, and that will instantly tell you your problem!

    Does the car drive ok?

Yeah, I was just wondering if the light turning off means the problem's gone? Car drives fine, the light came on a few weeks ago and the car stuttered/lost power and found out it was the coil pack so replaced it.

Since then it drives fine, but the light has a mind of it's own!

Theres people who can switch the light off for you and doesn't cost much.

Does the light need properly switched off once the problems been sorted, i'm not sure?

It usually turns itself off! Yeah when the problem's solved it needs to be switched off (ECU wiped) I think but it was turned off after the coil pack went in. Been on and off since.

May be a faulty EMlight? Thats best case scenario mind you!

think you can disconnect battery for a certain period of time to clear codes, maybe someone can confirm? i just put it in our diagnostic machine and clear all codes

    could be an intermittent fault
in citroen/pugs theres 84 different reasons for an em light iirc, so only way to tell is by plugging it into diagnostics
thats what we have to tell people at work anyway

    Cheers for the replies.

84 reasons? That is pure knowledge!

Think I'll see if it goes off again, if not I'll be back in the garage weeping over a bank statement.
