Important! : Exhaust Snapped (Cat Mount)

  1. #1
Anybody had this happen for and know whether it's possible to weld?? Car is just a shitter to knock about in so not bothered about bodge status. It's a 52 plate 1.6 VTR.

The mounting bracket on the 'flexible' (what a joke) part of the exhaust has sheared. Is it a case of buying a whole new section from cat down to mid box?

Looks from the top picture that just the bolt with the spring on has snapped, can pick them up from a nice garage for free if you ask nicely enough.

The only other mount on std exhausts is on the silencer section behind the cat, And that can probably be bodged with welding but I'm not sure, My straight through doesn't even have one, It's held on at the manifold and the backbox

The bracket has snapped cat-side. All I have is a piece of pipe unfortunately with no way to mount the exhaust back to it. Its quite rusted though.

Are there any models that share the same cat??

    Like the 1.4, 1.1 or w/e?

Can you not edit posts here? Sorry for the triple post.

    Will either of these work?

I believe so, Both I think are fine, Could be cheaper to get to a scrappers if they left the cat on the manifold and make them a nice offer for the complete unit
