Squeaky gear stick?

   Hi all,
   Just a quick one, my gear stick squeaks like a rusty door hinge when im changing gear after about 15-20 minutes of driving, especially when changing into 5th gear. Any advice?

   I hade same issue,i believe it´s from that "plastic ball" from where stick goes...

   my gear box is the same.. it sounds right 'tinny' when you wobble it... dont know if there is anything wrong with it.. but it drives ok

   same blooody problem, still not sorted it, tried everything, expect change the box

   had problem but cured my mk2 vtr gear squek if u jack car up look where stick goes to underneath theres a heat shield. found that as i have low car everytime i scraped speedbumps i had lnocked heat shield up to the rod that goes to the box was scraping on dented heat sheild.just another thing to look at if u thought of everything.know i did b4 checking that lol

   I have this on mine and the gearstick goes stiff too, I just tool centre console out and sprayed wd40 where linkage meets the stick and greased the ball the. Sprayed all the ball joints under engine with wd40 and problem solved bearing in mind iv done this twice in a year lol

   I replaced gearstick and those plastic joints which are conneceted to gearstick main linkage.It´s fine since then,but I guess it´s enough if you put some grease on those joints and should be fine...

   I was actually just about to ask about this. Mine has also been squeaking, only when i shift into 4th gear but it's bloody annoying. I sprayed some WD40 over the ball joint yesterday, i'm hoping that will sort the problem out. Failing that i'll try some grease. I've also noticed my gears feeling quite sticky, i'm guessing i maybe need a gearbox oil change. I actually comtacted citroen to ask what they would charge and they said £75. Phoned my local garage and they quoted £30. Bit of a difference. Booked it in for this Monday. I'm left wondering though wether the stiffness has been coming from the stick or the actual gearbox itself. Suppose it wont do any harm to have the oil changed anyway.

    I've saturated it in WD40 and it hasn't worked. Still get a squeak when i slip into 4th gear. So bloody annoying. I'll ask the mechanic to take a look at it when he's changing my gearbox oil tomorrow.

    Same problem, tried some light oil onto the plastic ball (from iside the car), slight difference but not fixed, still squeeks and gears really stiff especially when car is warmed up.
    Re oiled and greased up linkages at back of engine bay, including that pivot thing that's bolted to the bulkhead. Instantly feels better.
