Important! : Pressing Spoox rear wishbone mounts?

  1. #1
Hello, I need to do my wishbone rear mounts.

Got the Spoox ones, and got some questions.

My wishbones are aftermarket ones, the end of the bolt is rounded as you can see, and cause there is a metall tube housing in the spoox bush, I can't press it closer like in picture 4.

Only want some reviews about how you have done this job.

    Thanks Robert

They are an insanely tight fit, there shoulda been a sheet explaining how to put them on, but iirc it goes on with the sticky out bit on first.

You are intending on using a powerful hydraulic press yes?

Yes I will use a press, I also got the sheet.

But there isn't a picture, and the standard pressing angle must be to stressful for the rubber, cause of the lowering my car would try to turn these bushes when fitted, and they haven't much room for turning.

The old alloy bushes from UK the group A I think were full turnable.

If like normal mounts they don't need to be perfect as the driving of the car will remedy this

Willsy had his done yesterday see in his thread if he has put pics up of em, he is like that..

    Really?

So even if pressed you mean they wil turn into their position under the weight and the rideing heigt of the car?

I hope than that they are once fitted, don't wear out the metall tube housing.

You should press them on at the angle they will sit at when the car is stationary, so as you rightly say there is less stress on the rubber. This will as you can imagine increase the service life of the bush.

I had mine pressed on yesterday-

They need pressing on initially, but once theyre halfway on they are able to be tapped on the rest of the way (by hammered i dont mean tickling it, but its not an impossible task)

Ill be fitting them to the car later today; given that they can be hammered on after initial starting with the press I think there will be just enough give for it to settle into position and after a short period of driving

I may be wrong, but on the diagram it says to put it on in the same position that a standard one is. It would be impossible to judge varying different positions based on how low the car is or any oher factors really, so it should sort itself out

I decided to press with slightly turned angle, cause of my deep lowering.

Wouldn't deep lowering mean it would be better to have it more level?
