Important! : Electrical fault

Hi i have had a problem with my car lately in being that the car will not start when turning the key to engine on, it makes a clicking noise and resets the clock when turning the key. We thought it may have been a problem with the starter motor or the battery but both have been tested and are working fine. does anybody have any ideas what this may be?

The voltage seems to be dragging down very low to be actually resetting the clock!
If battery is fully charged then there must be massive resistance somewhere.
Check all earths and the condition of the battery terminals as well. Could also be faulty starter motor at an outside chance.

Note if you hold the key on the start position then what ever is resisiting the flow of curret will get hot quickly, you may even be able to smell it. Watch out for fire

dodgy earth on either the gearbox or the chassis from the battery

I would have said your battery, but you have had it tested, so the next thing is loose or dirty earth connections or loose battery leads,

Thanks for the help guys. it seems to be the ECU unit that the clicking seems to be coming from
