Uprated strut top mount bearings possible?

Is it possible to buy uprated strut top mount bearings? The standard ones dont seem to last very long....

They should last fine unless you are fitting incorrectly. You could get any bearing company to make you a set.

So the ones from any motor factors should last ok?

Yea they should be fine mate. Most people use them and last ages with track day abuse.

Says for an AX but look more suited to 106/saxo's with the 3 hole design.

To change the top mount bearings you do have to remove the entire strut assembly from the car

There is a guide for how to remove front suspension so have a look at that to familiarise yourself with it

Once the strut is removed from the car you'll need to compress the springs

You can then undo the nut on the top of the damper which will enable you to take off all the top mount assembly

The bearing simply sits into place so all you do is take out the old one and put the new one in place.

There is no need for any uprated bearings

The problem with the original standard ones is that everything is held in by a plastic seal, once this is damaged and no longer does its job then the bearing unit needs to be replaced even if the internals are in effect fine

The bearings that you buy now are all fully enclosed metal units so they cannot be taken apart or damaged due to a failed seal

Standard bearings can last for ages, certainly they dont tend to wear before 50,000 miles so given the age of Saxo's now a replacement bearing should outlive the car

Should be able to get top mounts and bearings from a local motor factors mate. Standard items are more than up the the job imo - I don't think the 'Grp N' top mounts that are in circulation are any different from standards tbh.

It is possible to just change the bearings though - correct? Dont wannt buy new top mounts as they were only replaced less than a year ago.

99% sure you can just change the bearings without renewing the top mounts - the bearings just sit under the top mounts.
