5 Sided Bolts

hi has anyone on here experienced this on the rear pad carriers. i changed the disc and pads on the os/rear no problem pad carrier had 2x 17mm bolts in there very easy done, however on doing the other side i went to put the same 17mm socket on the 2x bolts that hold the pad carrier in place and it wouldnt fit so i thought must be an 18mm put that on and applied small amount of pressure and it slip i thought thats strange so counted the edges on the bolt and it has 5 edges and the common bolt and socked has six edges conffussed. is there a special tool for this does anyone know.

p.s this is the second time i have encountered this sort of bolt other time was on my mothers mondeo rear caliper for adjusting the handbrake it is a 5 sided bolt??? help

bit of a stupid bolt really. Just remove using one of the 100's of techinics there is if you do not have the socket and replace with a normal headed bolt

pair of stilsons should do it - will mash the crap out of the head of the bolt but just make sure you have new bolts ready

I've got a socket somewhere for undoing these types of bolts - both of my old front calipers had them on..

i'd try a stilson before molle grips

the molle grips just chewed away at the bolt when i had the trouble
