Coolant temperature gauge

  1. #1
My gauge stays dead at the bottom whilst in use. Initially as i start the engine on a cold morning the needle sits at the middle when it warms up it drops to minimum. Any ideas?

For starters im not even sure which sensor is the coolant termpature sensor thingy. I took some pictures of colourful sensors:

Picture 1:-Blue bodied sensor with one wire coming out (Green arrow) is the Fuel injection system coolant temperature sensor). The other one is I believe a wiring connector (Blue arrow).
Picture 2:-Blue bodied sensor with two wires pink and green, is the Temperature warning light sensor (Red arrow). Yellow arrow not 100% sure.

No,the picture with the sensor with two wires coming out of it (Pink and Green) with the Red arrow. When you fit the new sensor, you may find that the ECU will require re-setting, but not always the case. You will know if it does as the fan stays on all the time even when the engine is stone cold. This is just a safety feature and a rip of to get more money out of you!! I managed to get one from my local motor factors, I think it was around the £15 mark.
