Car fell off axle stand - Checking for damage?

  1. #1
Today I had one of the front wheels removed for a refurb.

Whilst jacking the car up to remove the axle stand, the jack tipped over leaving the front end at one side to slam to the floor. So basically the front disc was resting on the floor for about 5 minutes before I managed to get another jack out from another car.

What should I be checking to see if there is any problems?

Probably just paranioa but when I drive the car I feel higher up ?

Will have all 4 wheels of the car tomorrow while im refurbing them. So the car will be left on 3 x jacks and one spare wheel.

Obviously I wont be underneath the car so no real danger, but still dont want to damage the car if any of the jacks fail (there all at least 12 years old)
Id probs check you top mount is ok not sure what else

    hahahaa

I decided to do 3 wheels yesterday which meant the car was left on two wheels on the back and 2 axel stands on the front. Had no problems.

Then today I just had the last wheel to finish. Reletively simple job, just jack the car up, put wheel on, remove axel stand, jack down

Yeh its bad when you end up having to pay for something stupid.

Sh!t myself when the front end fell to the floor. It was like in slow motion lol.

Thought my car would have been fucked.

It feels fine. Just when im driving the drivers side of the car feels slightly higer up. But if the axel had of bent, if anything the drivers side would be lower.

Its probably just me imagining things because I expected it to have done damage.

The wheels will be coming off in a few weeks again, as the wheel spray didn't go too well due to being far too much dust in the air. Plus some bits need filler. Will definately be buying or borrowing a trolley jack.

Yea i bet your imagining it i do stuff like that convince myself something is wrong when its fine! My 1.4 fell of axle stands its still sat on its rear brakes where it fell off lol, maybe kicking the wheel off the other side while its on axle stands wasnt a great idea

To be honest, if that was the only point of contact then I'd only imagine that you could of bent the top mount slightly. If that's ok then I doubt you're going to have any problems.
