Smoothed bonnet

I've jus got my vtr and its gota smoothed bonnet, it does get pretty hot under their pretty quickly, what i was thinking was is there any other way of creating a cold air feed to the induction kit whats under there? as it'll be sucking in hot air so it won't perform as better, i'll upload pics of it when i can as the cars at work as the previous owners battered it abit and the diffs knakerd!

Hi and welcome

You could invest in a larger air intake piece which fits into the front of the engine bay, I shall look for a picture (I saw one earlier).

Plus where is your current intake positioned? Mine is behind the engine which is bad (deffo need to lengthen it), as it also takes in heat from the engine.

The induction kit has just been strapped on at the back of the engine so its going to be sucking alot of hot air in yeah, if i fitted bonnet raisers would that benefit much? i've just seen a picture of another saxo on facebook where someone has a smoothed bonnet like mine and they've just put a cold air feed by cutting a whole in the bumper and piping it up to it, first things first i need to refit my gear box tuesday then i'll take pics and show

Erm well grills, raisers, and hood scoops do sometimes help in airflow, except people seem to insult you for it..

What do you mean a smoothed bonnet though?
I may get a picture of my engine bay for just showing how mine's set up.
Just a k&n with a half air flow pipe in from the standard...

You could have a long air flow divert, by having the air filter towards the lower bumper yeah rather than at the top

any form of open cone airfilter and your going to be sucking in hot air (which is why their cheap.)

The saxo's NA induction set up with a descent panel filter will function much more effectivly.

What you want is an enclosed induction kit, BMC CDA - Viper - Procomp etc.etc.

Theirs a thread on here somewhere that has printouts for different induction set-ups', have a look for it.

iirc the K&N Gen2 came out on top with some nice gains (for an induction kit), bit pricey though.

defo could put hole in bumper my mate used a sub port and painted it with some meshing did the job and looked like it was made there in finish

when i mean smoothed bonnet i mean its got no grill mesh on the bonnet the previous owner welded a plate on in place and smoothed it over, i think i'm going to try that with the sub port and some piping, where can i get some piping from would anyone recommend anywhere? i'll also upload a picture soon when i get chance as i've got my car back now

if you go halfords you can get a cold air feed piping and intake ports for around £20 i think mine cost me and theres a range of colours to or you could check it out on ebay

oh sweet i didnt know halfords did that, cheers thats me sorted out for what im doing friday then, n i dont know mate i bought the car like it so i haven't got a clue, from what i've heard your best off welding a plate on and the body filler n grinding it smooth and that lot
