Important! : Saxo starting, then cutting out, any ideas?

    hi all,

Recently my vtr has been starting then instantly it tries to cut out or does cut out. The rev counter (which is meant to sit at 1,000 rpm when idle) gets to the 1,000 rpm stage then it will drop down to near 0 rpm then suddenly jump to 1,000rpm (can feel the car trying to cut out). So i tried driving off and when stopped at lights the car cuts out and i have to start it but keep my foot on the accelerator so it doesnt cut out. Other times i can start the car and its fine and runs with no problems.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and if there anything to try?

    Cheers

Nah scrapyard or buy new for about £30 iirc
Edit:Looking on here it could be the idle control valve

Idle control valve, although more likely it`ll be the the Air temperature sensor.

mine did something like this a while ago. all it was down to was the little clip on the throttle cable too tightly set. simply moved it back one of two notches and problem solved.
Might be worth a try before spending money on it.
