WEird Idle/Backfiring

   Hi guys,
   
   When my car idle's, its very weird, sounds like a chain going round and round but kind of like a diesel ticking sound too. Any ideas?
   
   Also, when my car is stationary and running, I get small pops from the exhaust like not a *POP* but more like a smothered pop, any ideas?

   could be coil pack mate u ever tried replacing ? or could be sparks something along those lines i would think . my coil pack went my sax souunded like a tractor lol
