hey i recently bought a suspension kit, and im paying a garage to fit it. they will be putting the springs on the dampers and putting new dampers on front and back, also lowering the torsion bar. how much did you pay for yours? i just want to see how muich people paid and how much would you expect to pay?

Around £100 if someone knowledgeable on here does it

At a garage ive known people get quoted upto £300.

Just make sure that the rear is lowered the correct way!

How much are they charging you, and have they mentioned how they do the rear atall?

To keep it simple, ask them how its done, if they mention clicks, notches or splines then avoid it.

Have a lil search for the guide to familiarise yourself with the method (its easy to understand)

Alot of general garages use that method because it is quicker and they are of course working against the clock without much thought of aftercare or side effects from bad practice

It would be worth posting a request in your local regional section to see if theres anyone close to you that does it the proper way, could save you a good wedge both short term and long term potentially

potentiall both long and short term in effect.

The wrong way is done by forceably hammering off the trailing arm from the beam, the arm is then rotated a certain number of notches, clicks or similar terminology. Then the arm is forced back into place

This can have severe effects on the internal arm bearings and the seals, which if damaged will enable water to get into the arm and start to degrade the bearing which in turn will begin to grind against the beam pins.

Probably sounds confusing if you've not read up on it before.

Terminology where alarm bells should be ringing is: clicks, notches, remove the arm, twist round etc.

What they should be saying is that they remove the torsion bars fully from the beam, trailing arms stay on the beam!, height measured then both bars reinserted.
