Camber on Rear Tyre

  1. #1
    Hi Folks,

Last month, I had to replace a tyre as it was so bare on the inside, and to which had a new one fitted, however the new tyre is showing signs of wearing on the inside again.

I have jacked the car and given the wheel a good shake and there is absolutely no play at all.

Anyone got ideas as to what it could be, or how I could find out?

By camber I mean the top of the wheel is going inwards, and bottom going outwards, leaving the inside of the wheel more exposed to the road.

    Cheers

The joys of french car ownership haha. Sometimes it'll feel like there's no play, but camber on the rear wheels (especially them pointing 'inwards' at the top) is the tell tale sign of a rogered beam.

IMAxles seem to do good deals - I'd buy just a bear refurbed beam (with new stub pins) and fit your trailings arm on with new bearings/ seals.

Got a rough cost on the bear refurbed beam roughly? Missus is going to go nuts me spending more money.

    Or a number to call?

Mebbe worth looking for a used beam that's not got play in it, may last years may last a month tho

I picked up a rear beam for the missus 206 for £150
Was a relatively straightforward job except for what I think was a bent stub axle on the replacement beam
Had to do this to the rear drum

    What?
Used it to shield yourself from a bear attack?

That's another way of getting the rear drum off when no hub-pullers are available?!

Looks like they charge £190 for a refurbed beam with new stub pins. Then I think it's around £80 for the bearing/ seals from Citroen for the trailing arms. Then you'll have labour on top if you aren't doing it yourself.

    IMO that's a bargain !!

Having rebuilt my beam with new bearings/seals etc. I realise how much of a ballache it is so would easily rather pay extra for a IMAxle beam
