Why would Car not start ?

   Hi Guys,I went in to my car tonight & when I went to start the car it did Nothing.The Red light that comes-on when you turn the key looked Dull & so when I turned the key again I got same response.
   After I popped the bonnet & gave the cables that go around the battery a shake the car started first time without any probs.
   Do I need to replace those cables that go on the -+ Battery ?
   
   Also if they are loose why does the engine not cut-out when driving over the many pot holes on the road.

   Check cables and connections. Car does not cutt out because battery is only used to start the car, once engine is running the alternator runs everything else (basically).

   Hi Stevo,The car was parked & not running for around 8 hours,So could it not be the battery ?

   Check both connections are tight on the battery and the terminals are clean. If there is any rust, sand it off .
