#11pressed plates illegal is this true as purchasing some myself but dont want hassle off feds
-
#12They are legal providing they have:Quote:pressed plates illegal is this true as purchasing some myself but dont want hassle off feds
UK font
Reflective background
Manufactures' postcode
BS number (not sure that's a must?)
Have only a EU GB flag or nothing on the side
Dubmeisters have all of the above
they used to sell show plate too, but stopped because everyone used them on the road and got pulled, so now only do legal ones

#13All new uk plates have to be acrylic, which rules out all pressed plates. The only thing you can do to be different and legal is have the square plates or if you have a short number then you can cut the plate down
-
#14i knew there was something which stopped dubmeister doing them!Quote:All new uk plates have to be acrylic, which rules out all pressed plates. The only thing you can do to be different and legal is have the square plates or if you have a short number then you can cut the plate down

#19Nothing there that says they have to be acrylicQuote:Originally Posted by DVLA WEBSITE
When replacing your number plate you should make sure that the correct material has been used to manufacture the plate. It should be made from a reflective material. Front number plates must display black characters on a white background and rear number plate must display black characters on a yellow background.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is not aware of any self-adhesive number plates that meet the British Standard requirements.
Characters on a number plate can be 3D, providing they meet all the other requirements, but honeycomb or other background patterns are not allowed.
Also (and this is personal belief, I am not a lawyer or anything) if the law changes then it is just for new vehicles or plates, hence why older cars can have black and white plates, different fonts, and even such things as musical airhorns (all pre 1973 I think) and any car pre 1965 (again not entirely 100% on date but if you atre that interested google it) don't need seatbelts and only require one brake light, either in the centre or the offside. Its true -
#20Cheers for that mate probably will get the pressed plates then.
