Bit of a scare last night. Last MOT I had in Feb failed the car on some brake pipes, which I had replaced at no small cost.
Somehow a few weeks ago front caliper bleed nipple broke off, cue new caliper, and when the garage went to bleed the system found brake cylinders on the back had bleed nipples broke off, and other caliper nipple looked very rusted. Got my dad to come down and we replaced them ourselves to save some dosh.
THOUGHT that would be the end of that. Unfortauntly heading down the road just after pulling out, thought a car was going to pull out on me, luckily it didnt, but felt the pedal just completely give way and had no brakes, luckily it was 10 at night so no other cars really and limped the few metres home using engine braking and the handbrake.
Thought a flexi hose had split, but it was actually one of the new brake pipes. The way it had been routed it rubbed agaisnt itself when there was weight in the car. Got no tools so had to bite the bullet and have it towed to a garage to get it sorted.
Gonna get the whole system checked over now because I really dont feel too safe atm. Thankfully it happened at 10 mph outside my house and not 70 mph on the motorway. Gonna have words with the garage, 200 miles away or I would have got the car taken there to be sorted.
You think I can get some money claimed off the garage for improper fitment?
