clean map sensor...

my car has an intermittent idle fault. it sounds like it has unmapped cams. i blip the throttle and it clears. simple. of late the car has developed a miss when i want to hold 30-40-50mph. mostly on a cold engine. this does clear after a minute or two.

ive come to the conclusion its the map sensor. id like to try clean it with brake cleaner (blast the sensor out). i notice there is a little oil in my inlet and the map sensor.

is it common and am i the only one to have this problem? should i clean or just buy new part?

If it clears after a while, maybe the only difference is temperature?
Try getting a new engine temp sensor- they are about £12/ 15 and control a bit of fuelling. People get some idle problems from them and the car can run rich when they get old.

    Its the green sensor.

    driver side intake manifold.

both green and blue sensors are new in the thermo housing summer last year. car has been much better after a 2nd clean and few stern miles on it.
