Hopefully just front wing and arch.. anyone think of anything else that could have been damaged? It was reversed into, presumably at low speed..

ive got a phone number and their address, I dont know how it all works with insurance etc as i've never had this happen to me.. they have admited fault.. what do i do?
  9. #9
ring up your insurance, and claim, if they admitted fault, your car will be repaired by their insurance
  10. #10
thats crap mate, but least they have said its there fault.

looks like its just a wing and arch but like everyone says you wont know until you have a proper look

    hope its fixed soon

Exact same thing happened to me with my old car, front wing needed replacing. I went through their insurance on a "No Fault" claim or something which means my insurance wasn't affected. All got sorted fairly swiftly.

I've rang my insurance and told them whats happened, for now its just info but i can change it to a claim when i need to. Should i speak to the person first and say that I;d rather claim due to not knowing about other problems that could have been effected? (tracking etc) Or should i just raise a claim and let the insurers get on with it? We are on good terms and she has been very apologetic, so if i contact her i rekon itll go down better? She had said theyd get it fixed but i think ill be safer going through insurance.

    Thoughts?

just get it done through insurance saves yourself hassle down the line
  14. #14
    let insurance deal mate
  15. #15
Yea claim on their insuurance and let her know what your doing once you have initiated the claim. You dont need any kind of relationship with the other person, all you need to care about is your car so just sap every penny
  16. #16
What happens though when I make a claim? Does someone come look at the car? I really don't know the process! if someone could fill me in I'd be very greatful!
  17. #17
the way i look at it is if it is just a crumpled wing then would you want somone to claim off you unless its really serious get price and see what the people say most people would rather pay for the repairs than going through insurance
  18. #18
yeah if you claim you will have somebody to come assess the damage. hope everythings declared buddy if not get cracking putting it all back to standard

ring the lady and ask her if she wishes to settle it outside of insurance?
if she agress tell her it will be about 150 to repair the wing and arch. * and abit of compensation*
  19. #19
Yeah, normally you will get asked if its drivable.. if so then they will get you to take it to a bodyshop to get an estimate done, next an insurance assessor will look at the car to agree with what the bodyshop have estimated for..

Finally they will agree a date with you when they can have the car and the work will be done...

Go through insurance and you'll get a decent job, you don't want to do it on the cheap because otherwise you'll end up with a wing and arch thats a different colour to the rest of the car.

Insurance companies take care of everything, you wont have to do anything.
  21. #21
Where were you when you got hit?
  22. #22
Been to 2 diff bodyshops for a quote, both said around £5/600 ! I'm shocked to be honest!

Going through insurance now which is a pain, but will hopefully get my car looking good again!

On closer inspection the first bodyshop pointed out the alloy had taken a scuff which i hadnt spotted, so getting it refurbed too which is good ;D

Anyone got a rough idea on turn around on insurance jobs? Cant be without my car for too long :'(

Going through the lady's insurance now
