simple question does any one know weather a 1998 vtr would have a tapered or flat drive shaft?

   actually im pretty sure its a flat drive shaft as the change over was in october 1999

   Changeover was in '99.
   
   So '98 should be flat.

   i was just wondering if some one knew 100%, as i hate making mistakes when working on my car and having the wrong part nothing winds me up more, but yea cheers i did some research and it was October 1999 when the change over was

   Different places will give you different dates. It was definitely '99. But when decided on the model I think.
   
   Mine was out before Oct '99 and has tapered shafts for instance.
   
   Changeover periods are a bastard.

   hi i change my struts and drive shafts .....i had wheel bearing problems on my mk2... .as i was told on this site they fit each other (WRONG) I drove 2days wiv my mk1 shafts on my mk2 struts fook my bearings so i swap the lot over ...i.e mk1 t reg shafts and struts to my mk2.now its fine ..sooo if my bearings goes againe .do i just get a mk1 t reg bearings and m1 shafts ...from the shop wot dates do i need to no or would they have that on the data ???any one no

   If you put your reg number into eurocarparts then they know which one you need
   
   My mk2 is tapered.. that's all i know.
   
   Easy enough to have a look..

   ive tried mate, last time i took the strut off i must of hammered the hub nut on pretty dam well! lol

   Just make sure the staking bits are properly hammered out.
   Then just get a breaker bar and stand/jump on it
   Whilst your mum stands on the brakes of course
   
   Or a new idea.... you could wedge the breaker bar against the floor.. and put it in first.. then drive it
   Would be dangerous though...
