Right, finally getitng rid of my 1.1 Forte and going to a 1.6 VTR

been scanning about etc,etc and now found a decent one with is also close by.

trading in my X 2000 1.1 Red with 80k miles, just serviced, had new cat + downpipe, new aero wipers. slight dint to bottom left passenger door.
they offered me £450.... for trade in which i guess is okay for the age? and on parkers website is is the same value for trade.

but the other main issue is..

on the Y reg 2001 VTR 72k miles, part service history, 2 owners, silver..
but there are a few issues:

    1. On the dashboard there is on warning light painted over under the seethrough cover (shiny black paint only just noticable with light)
This is the light just under and to the right of the right reset stick.
Which light is this???? ECU warning??

    2. The left door has obviously been broke into due to had a shabby weld job with the cover stuck back over, but due to silver car this isnt to noticable but the central locking with key doesnt work on the passenger side just drivers (not to bothered).

apart from that the car is tidy, clean and comes with 1 year MOT from buying.

    they want £1300 ( £800ish after trade in )

is this worth it and a deal. is this warning light is off i have haggled at least £100 off the asking price so would this cover the cost to fix?

    Thanks in advance guys,

If they have gone through the trouble of covering that up god knows what else they are hiding. Spidey-sense tingling lol - walk away and look again mate.

yeah thats what i was thinking, but overall had a guy looking at the saxo with me that knows a bit.

everything about the car is nice apart from the 2 probs listed above.
The door isnt a problem really..

Just that light, i mean i dont expect 9 years age to a car to not have some effect or issues to deal with... just that if i get the money off the total price do you rekon its worth getting and sorting myself?

    thanks for the reply.

Up to you of course, and how much your mate knows about the car, hope it all works out okay fella.

If smack bang in the middle its probably the abs light mate. and the central locking is only designed to work on the drivers door mate. its not supposed to work on the passenger door.

Central locking should work on both doors and the bootlid. If its the engine management light (amber) then i would walk away. If its any other light (abs or somneting) then i would take it but raise the issue with them as to why its been painted. Obvously they're gonna say they ain't got a clue but just watch there reation.

What i meant was if you lock the passenger door with the key it wont use the central locking...but if lock the drivers door with the key it will lock the passenger door and boot aswell.

the warning light taped over i think will be the airbag, if previous owner put different seats in or it comes on for what ever reason, they put black electricians tape over the light and it hard to see, i would look for something else personlly

i would look for something else, there a plenty of vtr's out there a few of which are lemons but alot of them are good dont just look at the milage, look at how its been kept and serviced also look at the owner..any sign of a burberry hat,,,run ur ass out of there!
