downpipe to cat fire ring

   as above i put new fire ring as the old one was fooked on my 98 vtr only prob now is its blowing even worse now the ring it self does not seem to fit and looking under neath when someone rev`s it you can see it blowing what can i do? new fire ring? or new springs things i just used the old ones

   When you fit a new fire ring it should be bigger than the pipe it sleeves over by a fair bit. The idea is it all then compresses as you tighten up the springs underneath. Take it off again and put some exhaust past (fire gum not gun gum) around the fire ring and into around both ends of each pipe being joined. You will find it'll then run with no blows at all. . Try halfords holts firegum around £3.50.

   If the fire ring will not come off easily, don't force it. Leave it on and just apply the paste with it on the car.
