Manual Idle Adjustment

Is it possible to manually adjust my idle speed? Or does this require a re-map?

    well sort of

you can adjust the throttle cables resting point, in turn adjusting the idle speed

just look for the cable under the bonnet (top left) and the clip comes off

move it back and forward depending on your preference

question is why do you want to adjust it?

I wouldn't want to adjust it using the throttle cable as this will confuse the ECU as the butterfly valve will be partially open. When the engine is on idle all air being drawn in should be entirely from the breather valve on the back of the throttle body. Setting it using the throttle cable will also mean it will rev its nuts off for a few seconds after dipping the clutch before the fuel/air mixture is set correctly by the engine management.

The reason for adjusting is a mate has just had a cam and a re-map and its idling around 600 rpm. It idles fine at a standstill but when pulling up at say some traffic lights and dipping the clutch, you have to blip the throttle to stop it from stalling.

Mine use to do this mate, after the bodies were fitted and mapped. It ended up being a mapping problem, i use to pull out of junctions etc and if i didnt blip my accelerator before puling out it would stall. i just took it back and he adjusted it so it was fine. however on startup it ticks over on 500rpm for a minute or so then its ok?

Yeah it ticks over on startup for i would say around 3 mins on around 5-600 rpm then builds up to around 750 rpm but runs real lumpy.

have you done any mods? or is it standard

    mapped badly surely?
