Important! : bump steer

    right i got a mk1 1.1, when i 1st bought it it was completly standard and didnt have any problems, i then put alloys on it with 195 45 15 tyres, im 3 stud if that helps, well i now get really bad bump steer, iv checked my tracking and its pretty much spot on, what can i do to stop this? iv also lowered it by 45mm

    wheels with a greater offset can induce bump steer

    Just wider wheels in general will cause bump steer as they are running over more of the road surface therefore finding more bumps. Also, when mine was lowered the bump steer was unbelievable but i don't even notice it now so must just automatically correct it without noticing. Annoying i know, but nothing to worry about.

    yh its just annoying i thought it might go away, but it hasnt, so is there anything i can do to reduce it? or stop it? thanks

    When you increase wheel width it is more likely that one part of the wheel will hit a bump when another part wont, creating bump steer. And lowering the car increases the KPI (or equilvilant in a Macpherson strut. This is the angle that creates torque steer. Same thing happens with bump steer
