Very odd exhaust sound and a loud ticking noise coming from the engine when idling!! Help!

About ten minutes ago i went over a moor road nead my house, nsl road.
I went over a cattlegrid fairly slowly and got a bit giddy, put the car in 1st as there wasnt a car to be seen, and went through 1st and second gear flat out... Im not a chav everybody knows they do it once in a while.
Anyway when i got up the road to pull into the pub carpark i was heading to, i noticed the exhaust sounded very strange, almost like i was listening to two exhausts if you know what i mean, a strange sort of echo.
There was also a loud ticking noise coming from the engine.
Got home (1 mile away) keeping revs very low, and the 'double exhaust' noise semend to have gone, but i can still hear the ticking.

I had noticed a slight ticking in the past but nowhere near as bad as it was when i pulled up after the inncident.

Anyone had/heard of anything like this before?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Could have blown a hole in your exhaust manifold gasket. Look at your head around the manifold for signs of black staining.
I only say this because i've done the same to mine. Not expensive to fix, could probably do it yourself if you have a spanner lol
