My alternator belt is brand new and squeals very loudly when the car is started in the morning, then subsides once the car has warmed up. Could this be a problem with the belt itself or the alternator (as a new one has just been fitted)? The car loses power when I am driving at high speeds along the motorway - battery light comes on its stops charging and car cuts out. I thought this is impossible when the car is moving, as the alternator must charge? Could my amp and speakers have anything to do with it?
