Help with Manifold to Centre pipe Joint

  1. #1
    Hi,
I am just installing a new Stainless Mainfold to Saxsport pipe with CAT to my VTS. I have almost finished the installation but I am a bit confused about the final joint from the manifold to CAT Pipe.

This is the flexible joint. I have installed the fire ring and this sits nicely on the end of the exhaust and it mates nicely to the Mainifold.

But when I assemble the joint; the springs and washers don't seem quite right and I have assembled them quite a few different ways. There is a bevelled cup - is this supposed to fit into the 'loose' Flange plate which is on the exhaust as opposed to the manifold? The hole seems about a similar size but i don't want to jam it in!

And there is a flat washer which is scored? I can't work out what stops this joint coming loose as its not a lock nut (which presumably might melt).
I have photographed it when it looked the best but i am still not sure it is correct? for instance, Is the bolt pointing the right way should it be nut towards the rear of the car? It just all feels a bit loose and non-locating!

and this is whats in the box - obviously half the kit is still on the car. But there seems to be 2 long bolts left - are these an alternative size?

Thanks for looking and any ideas welcome would be really welcome

That cup that the bolt head fit's into on the cat side of the exhaust flange like in your picture should fit into the flange not proud of it like in picture 1. The rest of it is right mate.

Ok well i will tighten it up and it may pull it into the hole!

I had this with my vtr, it should slide into the down pipe snug but they were to big so i ended up tapping them out of my old down pipe and fitting. taking it you got the fitting kit with the down pipe? if so it should be right but i no theses kits are different for all types of saxos, 106's, 306's 205's xsara's they all use these but are different sizes. reason for me knowing is i sell them where i work (exhausts unlimited) the name explains it all.........

Ahh OK thats a good pointer. I might go and buy the correct fixing kit from Citroen dealer then it might have the correct cup. but thanks anyway at least now I know I am getting somewhere. And yes your right, the fixing kit did come with the chimney.

I have to go away to work over the weekend so I will try and have another go on Monday evening. I'll let you know how I get on but thanks. some useful stuff!
