Yellow widemouth on black vtr?????

  1. #1
i have just purchased a dimma grill and sprayed it yellow, put it on the car but it looks like theres too much yellow up the top and want to make a bit more of a feature of it. was thinking a widemouth in yellow or maybe yellow splitter? pictures will be up soon, opinions welcome.

    thanks

get some pics up mate but i think yellow widemouth sounds like the better option

A yellow widemouth would like good, if not paint ur dimma grill black again and paint the mesh yellow, might look a bit more subtle. If ur widemouthing you can by widemouth made pieces like this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

They have none carbon-fibre ones available for £69.99 that are just as good. You could then paint this yellow to match and then it wouldnt look so top heavy.

Have u got any pics of u grill painted and on the car?

very le man aston martin, i think it would look cool go for it
  6. #6
Well this is the widemouth i was talking about that has been painted and fitted

    This was saxo180's old car.

Im sure u can imagine what it would look like with a similar coloured grill
  7. #7
agree with the above, yellow wide mouth and mesh will set it off nicely
  8. #8
so you reckon i should re paint the grill to black, then yellow mesh and yellow widemouth? cheers for the opinions
  9. #9
No, i think u should leave the grill yellow and paint the widemouth yellow to match mate.

    However thats only my opinion.

tbh i think thats what i prefer, i like the clash of black and yellow on the car. Is there a guide to widemouthing? I would have thought you just mask it off, prep it and then spray, but i dont want to be left with that gash ridge that you get from masking lol.

    thanks

Depends on how you do it mate. You could do what u have suggested which looks okay when u are doing silver car and black widemouth. However because yellow is such a bright colour any non straight line or mark will make it look gash. IMO the best and proper way is to do as above. Cut the slats from the lower bumper, purchase and paint the insert and then glue/fix it in place.

i think i will have a good think about it before i do anything lol. what about if i just sprayed the lower grill slats yellow?? any ideas are good ideas atm

imo the grille is just too much and doesn't suit the lines well as all.

If you did the lower grille as per my pic it could look ok but you'd have to co-ordinate it with other touches of colour without going ott

A few people have said that the yellow looks out of place, and some say it looks good. I dont know what to do tbh. What you lot reckon on just a stealth theme?
  28. #28
Would look well nice mate. Great break up of the colour!

    i like it alot
    BUT....
get a shop with the normal black grille and yellow chevrons as it just looks like too much yellow on the front. Either that or you keep the grille as it looks in the shop and keep your normal wheels with the yellow rim .

dont want too much yellow as it can kind of spoil it and be abit too "in your face"

    love your car though

    cheers
    kyle

I think i agree with kyle about the rims, go yellow at front and then keep the rims black with a yellow edge using rim tape
