Oil Filter Leaking

   My oil filter started leaking on wednesday, so i took it off today cleaned it all up checked the washer was ok and just thoroughly cleaned it out, rubbed some oil back on the seal and tightened it up as tight as i could, went for a journey came back and it is still leaking, and smoking what could this be? !

   a leaking oil filter perhaps? seal must be fucked, get a new filter there peanuts

   You 100% it's the filter and not the sump? Could be something else leaking?
   
   I'd never replace an old oil filter - as blackie says they're peanuts from halfords

   its leaking from around the filter edge where it seals

   if its leaking from around the edge of the filter casing is it likely to be the filter or the plastic casing ?

   Go and get a new filter,
   
   You'll get a new o-ring with it.
   
   Replace the filter and o-ring, but for fuck sake don't tighten it as tight as you can It's an o-ring. Hand tight + half a turn is ample.
