What and where to buy?

    Right, I'm in the process of doing a fairly comprehensive service on my MK1 P reg 1.1 and part of this is I'm planning to buy new oil, oil, air & fuel filters, spark plugs, cambelt and new coolant. However I'm unsure of which exactly of the above parts I need to buy as in which make, model etc as I'm worried it wont fit etc, I don't mind spending a bit extra on more quality parts so not necessarily looking to do it as cheap as possible but links would be great and this is just for normal town driving etc.

    I would try your local motor factor/parts shop.

    I have a small one local to me who supplies the trade and they were pretty competitive compared to Eurocarparts. Also they were fine to take stuff back if the wrong part was supplied (like I got the wrong pads for the front at first). They were able to get things the same day or next day at worst. The cambelt kit they supplied seemed quality stuff and was the make recommmended by others on here, so I was confident of the other things they supplied me.

    If it were me i would get everything from the local motor factors, all but the engine oil which i would get a quality make from opieoils.

    If you want quality and aren't doing it on the cheap then surely OEM is the place to go?
