Drain the engine undo the surrounding bolts, drop it out ( Id clean it at this point), new gasket on, back on, torque up the bolts, refill engine and away you go.

dunno if they make gaskets for it anymore, could just use some copper gasket seal, it's about a 5er from halfords

So just take the old gasket off and put this on it, or just run this around my sump as it is atm ??

id take it off, clean both surfaces, put it on the sump, let it dry for 3-5mins, put sump on, do bolts up finger tight, then torqure them all up.

I'd let it dry overnight personally before putting oil in etc.

When using liquid sealant you should leave it as long as you possibly can before filling with oil
  15. #15
ok, hmm ill have to give it a think and see what to do, becasue ill need to do it then fill it up with oil to move the car

one job i fucking HATE with a passion is removing/fitting sumps on engines that are still in the car
  17. #17
its not the best thing to do but not to bad if u get it high enough and get a few hands on it
  18. #18
its easy enough to do mate i just cant stand it, mines leaking like fuck but i know the engines gonna be coming out, so for a good couple of month before i took it off the road i just kept an eye on it and topped it up lol

No need to take the exhaust down pipe off, but you will have to file down the stud that is above the pipe. Only needs about 5 mm off it, but simpler than takeing the manifold off!

Just replaced the sump on OH's car as it had corroded away and leaking leak a sieve.
