what is this for?

   its next to the map light shown in picture from a mk1 vtr.

   I think its the sensor for the remote central locking,mine is the same with the cover missing.

   As said.
   
   There's a black plastic cover meant to go over it. But they have a tendancy to shatter into tiny pieces when removed. Lol
