slowly losing oil

my saxo is slowly losing oil but not water,
there is no smoke coming from exhaust, i will need to add 1 litre a month to my saxo vts, i know the rocker cover is leaking a little near the alternator side,

garage told me that oil will evaporate when it gets hot,
is that true or is something wrong with my saxo

Have you checked your oil sump seal? quite a common fault

have a good check at the the mating faces around the engiine and inspect the joins, sump, ladders, rocker, etc, you would be suprised how much oil you loose just from the rockers.

does it smoke on start up after you leave it over night?
As if there is a little puff of blue smoke it might be your valve oil seals, over time they harden and not make a proper seal around the valve stem but they get better as they warm up as they sofen up and seal again.hope that helps.

well it might be burning it slightly and the cat is absorbing it or something like that, what oil are you using?should be 10w40 normaly i think?

As said, could be burning it slighly but I doubt it would be at that mileage. Chances are it's leaking more than you think on the rocker cover...

My money is on it leaking from the head just above the alternator - very common. Head gasket is the cause.
