My car is squeaky when i accelerate and change gear but its not that bad when i brake. I have only been driving for a few days so not sure what it could be and i havent got anyone home to ask?

#2Is it coming from under the car, and can you hear it more at low speeds? Does it squeak only for a second or two when accelerating/braking/changing gear at low speeds?
If yes, the chances are it could be the gasket/fitting apperatus for the centrepipe to manifold. Pattern ones are notorious for this. -
#3I think its just constant thorughout! It was quiet before then all of a sudden it kept coming more and got louder/more high pitched! When i brake i dont really get it. What should i do? Is it dangerous to drive?
-
#4It's probably somethign to do with the exhasut. They do get worse over time. I fitted a pattern one to my car a month a go, last week the squeaking got really bad.
Get yourself down to a reputable garage, (not somewhere like a tyre company or kwikfit, they're generally useless/rip-off) and get them to have a look. Shame you don't live this way, my Dad owns/runs a citroen/peugeot specialist garage and would have checked it out freeeeee. -
#5Do you think it will be safe to drive tonight and the morning though? Because i dont want to risk it but i really need to use my car?
-
#6Should be completely fine if it's exhaust stuff, as long as you take it steady.
But as I don't know what it is 100% as I havent heard or seen, I'd say just take it steady, no harsh acelerating or braking, smooth gear changes etc. Get it looked at as soon as you can.
Hope this helps. -
#7Im 99% sure that it will be safe to driveQuote:Do you think it will be safe to drive tonight and the morning though? Because i dont want to risk it but i really need to use my car?

I was driving mine for weeks with horrible noises coming from everywhere and nothing bad happened
If you have only recently bought the car then if you bought it from a dealer/garage your best bet is to give it back to them, as they usually fix any problems under warranty.
If not it will be worth taking it to a local garage, telling them whats wrong with it and letting them take a look.
You might find after a while it goes away.... If your lucky

#8I have the same problem, but I have a new cat and my exhaust is pretty much new. I think it maybe a ball joint or something. But I know idea also

#9I had the same problem, and it was the fitment from manifold to centre section. When i broke down had to take it to Quik-Fit and they just bodged on the wrong fitting kit. Was a cheap fix

#10what about the fan belt? is it more so when you turn corners?
-
#11Mine squeak when turning mainly right. So dont think its exhaust, something to do with wheel but not sure what. As drive shafts and brakes are less than 6 months old, im thinking ball joint
