confused

   hi got a saxo vtr, rite head was on its way so had head done including head skim pressure tested had water pump done themostat done cambelt and service . the problem i have got now is the cars temp gauge is showing halfway between the red and halfway between the halfway mark is this normal after a head change . before i had the car fixed the gauge was always on the halfway mark. any help would be great cant take it back to the mechanic as he is on hols for 2 weeks

   Either thermostat is not fully opening or he has, most likely, not bled the system correctly using a header of water. You CAN NOT bleed a saxo properly without a bottle or similar fileld with water stiking out of the top of the radiator. We need this to create pressure to force the air from the bleed holes because the bleed holes are higher than the rad itself.
   
   have a wee search for guides, should be an easy job at home really
